Experience the vibrant rhythms and captivating melodies of Mexico's rich musical heritage at PC’s first Mariachi Festival!
Join us for an electrifying celebration of tradition and talent as Mariachi ensembles from across the state gather to serenade you with their soulful performances. From the haunting melodies of the violins to the triumphant blasts of the trumpets, immerse yourself in the infectious energy of Mariachi music.
Indulge in Latin American cuisine and explore the handicrafts of local artisans at the Artisans Marketplace beginning at 5 pm in Freshman Square and Pastor Plaza. Whether you're a seasoned Mariachi enthusiast or new to the genre, there's something for everyone at PC’s Mariachi Festival. Proceeds from the event support Phoenix College music students; do good while having fun.
Participating Ensembles
In addition to the host ensemble, Phoenix College's Mariachi Osos del Valle, participants will include: Arizona State University Mariachi Los Diablos del Sol, Carl Hayden - Falcon's Folklorico de M.E.Ch.A., Mariachi Los Gauchos de Glendale Community College, Maryvale High School Mariachi Panteras de Oro, Rosie's House Mariachi Milagro Juvenil, Mariachi Los Tigres de Tolleson Elementary School.

Your Host, Diego Verdugo
Verdugo, a first-generation, bicultural, and bilingual immigrant from Sonora, Mexico, will serve as emcee. After becoming the first in his family to obtain an undergraduate degree, Diego entered the financial services industry by joining Principal.
As Managing Director, he provides leadership, operational, and consulting support to financial advisors. He co-leads his region’s recruiting, retention, and professional development efforts; serves as an internal Investment Specialist; and has his own practice serving business owners, families, and professionals.
Diego is actively involved in several nonprofit organizations, including Junior Achievement of Arizona, the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA), Los Caballeros, and the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. An advocate for financial literacy, focusing on closing the financial knowledge and wealth gaps in underrepresented and low-income communities. Diego was recognized by Investment News in 2020 as a member of its prestigious 40 under 40 program and on its inaugural Hot List in 2023.
Diego lives in Phoenix with his wife and two daughters. In addition to his successful career in financial services, Diego is a proud business owner, investor, and entrepreneur. He holds a B.A. in economics, business, and Spanish from Cornell College and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Science degree in Personal Financial Planning.
